Commenting and the use of Restricted Comments are an essential part of real-time collaboration in any Media Production environment. In this series of articles, we explain how to swiftly share video fragments, for review and verification. This particular article explains what are Restricted Comments and why they are important.

In any environment of media production or delivery, be it rushes, semi-finished cuts, or masters, effective collaboration hinges on clear communication during review and approval. Comments are an essential component of exchanging feedback, verifying content, and streamlining production workflows. However, not all comments are meant for every viewer. This is where Restricted Comments come into play.

Restricted Comments allow users to control who can see specific comments based on elevated access permissions. This feature ensures that sensitive or context-specific feedback is only visible to relevant team members, such as project leads, legal teams, or executive reviewers.

What is the purpose of Restricted Comments?

Restricted Comments must be activated first by the Workspace or Account Admin.

By leveraging Restricted Comments, you can balance open collaboration with privacy and security, ensuring feedback reaches the right people while safeguarding sensitive information:

  • Enhanced Security: Protect sensitive or confidential feedback from unintended exposure.
  • Contextual Clarity: Share detailed, role-specific instructions without cluttering the general comment stream.
  • Improved Collaboration: Foster open discussion while maintaining control over sensitive communications.

How does it Work?

Assuming Restricted Comments are activated by your production workspace administrator, upon commenting, the user can select the access level for each comment as shown in detail here.. “Restricted Comments” marked as such are only visible to people that have elevated access permissions.
