Export settings in Limecraft Flow allow the Production or Account Admin to control how metadata, transcripts, comments, and subtitle files are exported for post-production and delivery. These settings determine which formats are available to users, how many metadata items are included, and how media is structured when exporting to editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro or Avid Media Composer.

TABLE OF CONTENTS

Before you begin: to access production-level settings, you must have adequate permission. You need to be either the production admin or account admin.

What are Export Settings in Limecraft?

Export settings in Limecraft define how metadata, subtitles, comments, and transcriptions are exported from a workspace to editing systems or delivery platforms. They determine which export formats are available to users, how clip information is structured, and how exports behave across different applications such as Adobe Premiere Pro or Avid Media Composer.

To streamline setup and ensure consistency across productions, these settings can be pre-configured at account level using a workspace template. When a new workspace is created from that template, it automatically inherits the predefined export configuration, reducing manual setup and helping teams maintain uniform naming conventions, metadata structures, and export workflows across all projects.

How to Access Export Settings?

To access the export settings, in your capacity as Production Admin or Account Admin, go to your Production Settings and nagivate to 'Export Settings' as illustrated below.

Available Export Formats

Using Limecraft, metadata can be exported in a wide variety of formats. The settings below let you configure this. By default, all the export options are selected. To limit the amount of available options, you can unselect them.

Available Metadata Export Formats

Limecraft supports a wide range of metadata export formats to accommodate different editorial, production, and delivery workflows. In the Export Settings panel, you can enable or disable the formats you want users to see when exporting clips or sequences. By default, all formats are enabled. Depending on your workflow, you may choose to limit the available options to keep the export menu clean and aligned with the tools your team uses.

Each supported metadata format serves a different purpose:

  • PDF Clip Report – Produces a printable, human-readable overview of all clips and subclips, including key metadata. Commonly used for compliance reporting, continuity notes, and production reviews.
  • Word Clip Report (DOCX) – Similar to the PDF export but delivered as an editable document. This is particularly useful when teams need to adjust descriptions, add comments, or create narrative breakdowns.
  • CSV Metadata Export – Generates a spreadsheet-compatible file containing clip-level metadata. Ideal for data analysis, ingest logs, archive workflows, and integrations with third-party systems.
  • AAF / Editing System Exports – Provides metadata structured for use in non-linear editing systems such as Adobe Premiere Pro or Avid Media Composer. This includes clip names, bin structures, and selected metadata fields used to organise media in the editing environment.
  • XML-based Exports – Some productions rely on XML formats (e.g., Final Cut Pro XML) to transfer metadata, markers, and clip relationships into downstream tools.

By selecting only the formats relevant to your production, you can streamline the user experience while ensuring that metadata reaches the right tools in the most efficient way.

Available Transcript Export Formats

Limecraft supports several formats for exporting transcripts to accommodate different editorial and accessibility workflows. Depending on your needs, transcripts can be exported as structured text files, subtitle-compatible formats, or data-oriented files for external processing.

Common options include DOCX or PDF which can easily be sent per email, CSV for spreadsheet-based analysis, and subtitle formats such as SRT or WebVTT when timecodes are required. Transcripts can also be exported in Avid ScriptSync format, which can be easily indexed by Avid.

By enabling only the formats relevant to your production, you ensure that users can easily export transcripts in the structure best suited for editing, translation, compliance, or accessibility delivery.

Available Subtitle Formats

Limecraft Flow supports all commonly used subtitle file formats for editing, review, broadcast delivery, and online distribution.

The following formats can be enabled or disabled in the export settings:

  • SRT (SubRip Text) – Widely supported, simple subtitle format used for editing, review, and most online platforms.
  • STL (EBU STL) – Legacy broadcast-standard subtitle format commonly required by linear broadcasters.
  • EBU-TT-D – XML-based subtitle format preferred by many public service broadcasters and OTT platforms.
  • WebVTT – Web-native subtitle format used by streaming services and online players.

These options allow you to tailor subtitle exports to the requirements of each production or delivery partner.

Available Export Formats for Editing Software

Limecraft provides expert export options for seamless integration with non-linear editing systems such as Avid Media Composer and Adobe Premiere Pro.

These formats ensure that clips, metadata, and bin structures transfer correctly into the editing environment:

  • AAF (Advanced Authoring Format) – Used primarily with Avid Media Composer to exchange clip metadata, markers, and bin organisation. When exporting via AAF, Limecraft can automatically name clips using episode, scene, shot, or take information to mirror production conventions.

  • Adobe Premiere Pro Export – Creates metadata-structured exports optimised for the Limecraft panel inside Adobe Premiere Pro. This includes clip naming, bin placement, and the transfer of descriptive metadata to support efficient media organisation.

  • XML-based Editing Formats – For workflows relying on Final Cut Pro XML or other XML structures, Limecraft can export clip metadata and relationships in an interoperable format that downstream editing systems can interpret.

These export options help editors receive organised media with consistent metadata, reducing manual preparation and speeding up the transition from ingestion to the edit suite.

Advanced Options

Setting a Default Limit for Comments & Transcriptions per Clip

This option allows you to set a default limit of comments and transcriptions per clip in the export. As a result of setting this limit to 20, for instance, the export includes no more than the first 20 transcriptions or comments.

NOTE: By default, the number of transcriptions and comments for export is limited to 10.

This setting impacts the following three export formats:

Advanced Options for Export to Adobe Premiere or Avid

The settings below will help you organise your media in Edit Suite. Here you can choose how your clips will be named and in which bin they should go (based on the metadata).

And lastly, in the "clip name in AAF" section, you can choose if you want us to use the episode, scene, shot, take information as a clip name. By unchecking the box, we will keep the original clip name in your export.
